Hi Team8s! In 2013, I had two goals – to get on stage and then get pregnant. (Figure is my ultimate goal, but I started out in bikini). After I competed and got pregnant, I knew I needed a higher body fat for my growing baby and muscles, which was hard to accept in the beginning. Kala reminded me that being pregnant is the perfect cover for the higher body fat – a win-win situation! Right now I am 36 weeks pregnant and have loved most every moment. It took a while to get used to but I learned to embrace it. Without Kala’s guidance, my Type A mind would have been going nuts trying to figure out how many macros I actually needed along the way. She made sure my mind was in the right place. (I had also come from a clean eating background, which was leading me into an eating disorder mess.) I have learned most of all to listen to my coach and to listen to my body. My training is having to be less of a priority right now, but with a sound mind and the nutrition knowledge I now have, I know I will bounce back post-baby looking even stronger in no time.
