Reflecting on my trip to CT last weekend… I just have the most peace & joy. I’m so dang excited for my friends & where they are in their lives. When Mitchell & I lived in CT we were only 1 of 4 couples out of our 40+ friend group. So many great guys & gals looking for their special someone. Most weren’t from CT, but had moved there for grad school, internships, residencies or “real jobs”. 🙂 Needless to say, we all shared a need for friendship since leaving our lives elsewhere shortly before meeting. I got to walk with these friends. We struggled together & celebrated triumphs. We cried together & yearned for more together. I can’t even put into words the sadness I initially felt when I knew it was our time to move to NH.
Fast forward almost 2 years & a large handful are now dating…not just flippantly, definitely not “dating” in the sense that the majority of society “dates”, but dating with the intent to get married. So much waiting. So much loneliness. So much patience. So much trust. Nothing is cooler than seeing our God be faithful. The best part is that this reminded me of something I say often, “God is faithful“, but do you let that sink in?
Think about it….
How many times do you question His goodness? How often do you ask yourself, “what am I waiting for”? Watching these friends being obedient despite their lack of understanding of God’s plans has rejuvenated my faith in His faithfulness. Reality is that it’s our own disobedience that prevents us from experience Gods faithfulness. He doesn’t change. We do…..
“I am the LORD, and I do not change…”
Malachi 3:6a NLT
How often are you swayed when you learn new info about a situation? How anxious do you feel when you can’t foresee the future?
That verse has been a go-to truth for me in times of anxiousness or worry. I decided a few years ago that I no longer wanted my plans for me. I want Gods plans. This is a decision we have to make daily if we truly expect to experience Gods faithfulness.
I could go on & on, but I just wanted to encourage you with some answered prayers from my friends’ lives. I’ve watched them be obedient & I consider myself privileged to now be experiencing the joy that comes from watching Gods plan unfold.
Here’s a few fun pics from my trip:

Steph (top left) and Debbie (bottom left) after brunch!! So excited for these two. Steph is getting married tomorrow 12/19/15!!!
If you’re feeling weary & tired don’t give up. If you’re unsure if you’re even desiring things that could be in God’s plans just ask Him. He’s not some distant ‘being in the sky’. He actually desires a relationship with us. All relationships grow over time…the more you “get to know” each other. The coolest part is that God already knows you…do you know Him?
Prayer:
God, thank you. I just want to thank you for who you are. Thank you for being consistent in an inconsistent world. Everything changes, but you don’t & that makes me feel secure. Thank you for being trustworthy. I’m feeling weary & tired. I can’t see the plan you might have for me. Please show me. Help me believe that you love me & that your plans aren’t just better than mine, but that they’re worth waiting for. Help me wait for YOU!
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
