Well, we’ve all been there…. We’re tired of being sick and tired. Tired of clothes getting tighter and at the end of each week feeling like we just can’t catch up on rest. Our bodies and minds are flat out exhausted!!
But then something catches our eye.
You notice that a friend on Facebook has made a bunch of posts recently about a new program she’s doing. Ads keep popping up in your news feed about 21 days to fix your diet and this 7 day cleanse to ‘rev up your metabolism’.
It’s these things that propel you into making a change. BUT…. 3 weeks later you’ve found yourself elbow deep in Doritos thinking, “I’ll get back on the wagon tomorrow!” Tomorrow comes and you don’t get back on the wagon. You’re busy and a few months pass by and you’re right back where you started.
That’s what we call the “dieting cycle”.
Sound familiar?
Don’t worry, this is more common than you might realize and there’s no reason to feel ashamed. You probably did the program exactly how it was intended. You might’ve even lost some weight in the process and started to feel better overall. So, what happened?
There are several reasons why you’ve gained weight back after having been successful at losing it in the past. Today, I’m going to give you some action steps you can take to ensure you don’t repeat your mistakes this time around!

MINDSET TIMELINE
I get it, you want to reach your goals yesterday. Trust me, we all do! But, let’s be realistic for a moment. Wherever you find yourself right now…. You didn’t get here overnight. We all know this concept to be true, so why do we struggle so much with the timeline when it comes to reaching goals like losing weight or becoming healthy?
The answer is that we’re not reminding ourselves of truths we already know.
The mantra “you get out what you put in” holds true. I believe this is a HUGE component of why so many of us “fall off the wagon”, get frustrated and end up back where we started.
What’s a solution?
Community. Surround yourself with others who have goals and who can hold you accountable. We have a wonderful community within Fit Me Forever and we’d love to have you join us!
It’s incredibly helpful to see that you’re not alone, that your body is NOT “stubborn”, that your goals ARE achievable AND to share resources like books and podcasts to help reinforce these facts.
BIG PICTURE VS TUNNEL VISION
There’s another reason why you might find yourself back at square one. Maybe when you started, you weren’t thinking about “what happens after _____ (insert: 21 day fix, 7 day cleanse, Whole 30…) you were just thinking about getting results!
Now, you might realize that maintaining those results requires something different. This boils down to having a plan in place that sets you up for success long term rather than just the next couple weeks.
Ultimately – if your goal is to experience “diet freedom” (never having to worry about “counting Calories” or avoiding all social gatherings because it’s impossible to “stay on your diet”) – you’re in the right place.

IDENITY
Identity is closely related to mindset, but not exactly the same. Mindset often describes your attitude toward something. Identity, however, is what you are and what you believe yourself to be.
At The OMNI FIT, we want to help you make the identity shift to believing that “being healthy” is WHO YOU ARE, not SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO DO.
If “being healthy” is only an action item then you can easily choose to not do it. But, if “being healthy” is who you are, things change. You can’t just stop being yourself. This goes quite a bit deeper into the realm of what you believe about yourself. If you struggle to identify with “being healthy” this might be an area worth exploring.
No matter where you find yourself today, reality is that if you’re not where you want to be, there’s room for improvement!
