Attempting to lose weight sucks. There’s really no way around it, for many people it’s a combination of uncomfortable experiences and a roller coaster of emotions.
Oftentimes people take on an aggressive approach, which though it leads to short term results, it also prevents long term success once they ‘rebound’ and revert back to those easier habits that have been ingrained in them for much longer.
This is not your typical list for fat-loss, but I argue that those ‘typical’ lists don’t actually help sustainable fat loss, but often short term weight loss.
5 FAT LOSS MISTAKES YOU UNKNOWINGLY MAKE
1.) You prioritize short term results
You are more concerned with looking good as quickly as possible than you are with being able to stay lean 3 years down the road. This often results in cutting too many calories too quickly, adding in too much activity too fast and not focusing enough on strength training. You are more concerned with ‘feeling’ the burn and sweating your butt off in a session than you are with training that will make you better.
2.) You change your plan constantly
Success is not linear, even when someone is following a phenomenal plan. People are too soon to jump the gun and decide that something ‘isn’t working’ when in fact it’s working fine, just not as quickly as one may want. Hoping from program to program is no good for your body or mind and is the equivalent of looking for a short term solution to a long term problem.
3.) You don’t focus on the basics
Do you eat healthy food? Do you drink enough water? Do you sleep enough? Do you consistently exercise?
If you can’t answer each of those questions with a solid YES then there is no reason you should be even slightly concerned with anything of more detail. Sometimes I think people get too wrapped up thinking there is some magic ‘secret’ out there that will work for them that they forget the basics are what work.
4.) You don’t enjoy yourself
For some reason dieting has been associated with negative thoughts and emotions, I want to change this. Finding a new way of life that can transform your body can be freaking AMAZING and yield amazing results not only in your physical body but in your mentality as well. That is only if you learn how to enjoy yourself in the process! If your fitness isn’t making your life better, than you’re doing it wrong.
5.) You hide behind your excuses
Maybe you haven’t even started, maybe you can’t even lose the first 5 pounds. So much of the time I see people hide behind their excuses. Everyone thinks that their excuse is the ONE exception in the world and this MUST be understood for why ‘x’ won’t work for them. It’s all lies, you’re just sabotaging yourself before you even start. If one person in the world can accomplish a task, you can too.
